Police to Pursue Legal Action Against Wimal Weerawansa Over War Heroes Event Disruption

Police have announced they will take legal action against former Member of Parliament Wimal Weerawansa and a group for allegedly disrupting a rehearsal for the National War Heroes' Day Commemoration event on May 18. The incident reportedly involved the group attempting to enter the War Heroes' Memorial site at the Parliament grounds without permission, thereby obstructing official proceedings. Weerawansa, speaking on May 20 after attending court proceedings, stated he is prepared to face any legal action concerning the event. He further commented that they would not hesitate to face legal proceedings if action was initiated against their attempt to pay tribute to war heroes with a floral wreath.
