A significant haul of over 300 kilograms of illicit drugs is slated for public destruction in Puttalam on Thursday, May 27, authorities confirmed. The consignment, which includes 22.888 kg of heroin, 33.172 kg of Kerala ganja, and 247.940 kg of ganja, will be incinerated at a special furnace located in the Lactowatta area of Wanathawilluwa at 9:00 AM. These drugs were seized during raids conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), and their destruction follows the conclusion of legal proceedings in the Balapitiya and Chilaw courts. Preparations are underway, including the transport of the drugs from the Balapitiya Magistrate's Court starting at 5:00 AM on the same day.
