Deputy Inspector General of Police W. P. J. Senadheera, overseeing Traffic Management and Road Safety, has instructed officers to take strict legal action against drivers operating vehicles with altered or non-standard number plates. This directive comes amidst reports of vehicles using modified plates instead of those issued by the Department of Motor Traffic. Furthermore, it has been observed that owners of newly registered vehicles are frequently using number plates of various colors, deviating from the approved standards.
