Police Shoot Suspect During Galgamuwa Escape Attempt

Police in Galgamuwa fired shots at a suspect attempting to escape custody on Tuesday afternoon. The two individuals, arrested on drug-related charges and handcuffed, reportedly tried to flee while being loaded into a police jeep for transport to court. They ran approximately 75-100 meters from the police station before officers discharged their firearms. One suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was initially admitted to Galgamuwa Base Hospital before being transferred to Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.
