Police Seek Public Assistance to Apprehend Suspect in Akuregoda Lawyer Couple's Murder

Sri Lanka Police have requested public assistance to locate and arrest a suspect linked to the double murder of a lawyer and his wife. The couple was fatally shot on February 16, 2026, in the parking area of a supermarket in Akuregoda, Talangama. Authorities believe the suspect served as the driver of the vehicle used by the gunmen to flee the scene. The suspect has been identified as Kaluarachchi Liyanage Niluksha Weerasinghe, and the Western Province (South) Division Criminal Investigation Unit is conducting the investigation.
