Police Open Fire on Vehicle Evading Gampaha Checkpoint

Police in the Gampaha district have opened fire on a vehicle that failed to stop at a checkpoint in the Minuwangoda area. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle defied orders to halt and attempted to evade officers. One source indicates the driver allegedly attempted to endanger a police officer while trying to escape. The police action resulted in the driver sustaining injuries, after which they were arrested and admitted to a hospital. The vehicle and individuals involved have been taken into custody.
