Department of Motor Traffic Introduces WhatsApp Hotline for Vehicle Complaints

Sri Lanka Police have launched a dedicated WhatsApp hotline to empower the public to report traffic violations and combat reckless driving. This initiative, supported by Transport Minister Bimal Ratnayake's call for responsible driving during festive seasons, aims to reduce the 5-6 daily fatalities caused by road accidents. The public can submit evidence, such as videos and details of offenses, to help curb dangerous practices like driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Deputy Inspector General of Police W.P.J. Senadeera confirmed the hotline has received numerous complaints, and increased police presence is deployed for enhanced road safety.
