Police Intercept Major Drug Shipments, Arrest Key Associates in Two Operations

Sri Lankan law enforcement agencies have carried out two separate operations, leading to the arrest of key individuals involved in drug trafficking and the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics. In Ganemulla, the Northern Crime Division apprehended a 34-year-old suspect, identified as a primary associate of alleged drug lord "Konda Ranji". This operation resulted in the confiscation of over 12.3 kilograms of 'Ice' and over 10 kilograms of heroin, with an estimated street value approaching 300 million rupees. Separately, the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force arrested "Marawila Akila" in Wennappuwa's Dummala Deniya area. Akila is reportedly a main distributor for "Haitop Thushara", another associate of "Konda Ranjith" believed to be orchestrating operations from Dubai. This second bust yielded over 120 grams of heroin and over 53 grams of 'Ice', valued at more than 7.5 million rupees. Both arrests underscore ongoing efforts to dismantle major drug networks operating within the country.
