Police Inspector's Mother Arrested with Kush, Released on Bail

A woman, identified as Weera Hennadige Kusum Latha Fernando, also known as "Kanthi," and reportedly the mother of a police inspector, was arrested on April 9th in the Kumbuka area of Moragahahena. The arrest was made by the Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force following a raid on her residence, which was suspected of operating as a drug distribution center. Authorities discovered 15 grams of Kush in her possession during the operation. It is alleged that she used her son's official position as a shield for her activities. On April 11th, the Horana Magistrate's Court ordered her release on Rs. 200,000 personal bail.
