Police in Narahenpita opened fire on a car on Saturday after its driver allegedly ignored orders to stop at a roadblock, an incident linked to the alleged abduction of a young woman. Responding to an emergency hotline tip about the abduction, officers established the roadblock on Nawala Road. When the driver refused to halt, police fired to stop the vehicle. The woman inside was safely rescued, though the driver reportedly fled the scene. Investigations suggest the abduction may stem from a personal relationship, with the woman allegedly taken from a BMICH graduation ceremony by her boyfriend.
