PM to Convene Talks Over Malwana Student Occupation

University students, identified as part of the Inter-University Student Federation, have occupied a property in Malwana. The students entered the premises, claimed to belong to former minister Basil Rajapaksa but currently ownerless, on May 14th, demanding the return of alleged "stolen public property." Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who also serves as the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, has taken notice of the ongoing occupation. A discussion is scheduled for May 18th at the Prime Minister's office, chaired by the PM, with relevant parties to address the students' demands. Future actions will be determined following this meeting.
