Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has urged for a long-term program to combat the escalating dengue epidemic, emphasizing that collective action is crucial for success. Speaking at a special dengue prevention event in Kottawa on December 16th, coinciding with Dengue Prevention Week, she stated that the nation must overcome this challenge just as it has surmounted previous national crises. The Prime Minister highlighted the increasing dengue risk across the country, noting that Colombo District remains at high risk. She also pointed out that health authorities have identified several public and institutional spaces as high-risk dengue breeding grounds, calling for immediate attention to mitigate these threats.
