Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has successfully negotiated an end to the occupation of a Malwana property by university students. Following discussions held on May 18th, the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) agreed to vacate the residence they had occupied for several days. The Prime Minister also committed to transferring the disputed land and house, administered by the Dompe Divisional Secretariat, to the University Grants Commission (UGC). A feasibility study will be conducted on the property to determine its allocation for higher education development. The resolution marks the culmination of talks aimed at addressing student concerns regarding the property, which was previously linked to former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
