PM Harini Amarasuriya Clarifies Provincial Council Election Fund Usage

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya informed Parliament that funds allocated for the Provincial Council elections have not been utilized for disaster relief activities. She elaborated that all financial assistance received from donors for disaster relief and infrastructure reconstruction is securely deposited in a special account supervised by the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury. The Prime Minister emphasized that these funds are earmarked for projects identified according to national priorities and will be managed with transparency and efficiency.
