PM Amarasuriya Urges El Niño Preparedness, Cites Need for Food, Water, Energy Focus

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasized the critical need for enhanced preparedness in anticipation of the El Niño phenomenon. Speaking at the Colombo District Coordinating Committee meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that special attention must be directed towards food security, water management, and energy management. She also announced that steps are being taken to appoint a special committee tasked with developing necessary plans to address the potential impacts of El Niño. A national program is already underway, led by the President, to respond to weather changes, with instructions issued to all districts to ensure food security and energy stability.
