Pilot Low-Floor Bus Service for Persons with Disabilities to Launch from Makumbura

A pilot low-floor priority bus service for persons with disabilities is scheduled to launch on April 21 from the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre. The initiative, inaugurated under the patronage of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake, aligns with the government's vision of ensuring equal opportunities and human dignity for all citizens. This project, part of the Clean Sri Lanka program, has been allocated Rs. 430.7 million in funding. The initial phase will deploy 10 modern air-conditioned low-floor buses, specifically designed to provide easy access for wheelchair users.
