Operations conducted on April 4th under the 'Rata Ma Ekata' anti-drug initiative resulted in the arrest of 906 individuals. Police have also initiated investigations into illegal assets for 12 of these individuals, with 15 suspects currently held under detention orders. Separately, an additional 592 suspects were apprehended on the same day through other police crime and drug prevention operations. The Sri Lanka Police reported that 906 individuals were arrested across the island on April 4th as part of the ongoing 'Rata Ma Ekata' (Nation Together) national anti-drug operation. These arrests were made during extensive search operations aimed at curbing drug-related activities. Police headquarters indicated that 15 suspects were subsequently detained for further questioning following these raids. The operation also led to the seizure of various illicit substances, including heroin, 'Ice' (methamphetamine), cannabis, and other narcotic pills and derivatives. The 'Rata Ma Ekata' initiative, a government-led program, aims to disrupt drug supply, reduce demand, and facilitate the rehabilitation of individuals struggling with addiction.
