Opposition Leader Calls for Utility Price Reductions and Public Relief Package

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called on the government to reduce the recently increased prices of gas, fuel, and electricity and to provide a relief package to the public. In a video message, Premadasa stated that the sharp increases in these three essential services over a short period have placed millions of citizens under significant economic and psychological pressure. He accused the government of failing to comprehend the hardships faced by ordinary people and not adequately managing the situation. The Opposition Leader also highlighted uncertainty surrounding the fulfillment of the country's gas requirements by suppliers and noted that the full burden of price hikes, despite prior parliamentary warnings about supply disruptions, is now borne by consumers.
