The private bus, travelling from Dayagama to Hatton, reportedly plunged approximately 25 feet while attempting to give way to another vehicle. The accident tragically resulted in one person dying and 22 others being hospitalized for injuries. Among the injured were schoolchildren, who are currently receiving treatment at the Dikoya Base Hospital. Police investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The number of individuals injured in the bus accident has risen to 30, with one fatality confirmed. The accident occurred around 3:00 PM when a private bus traveling from Dayagama to Hatton veered off the road and plunged approximately 25-30 feet into a precipice in the Batalgala Estate area on the Hatton-Dikoya main road. The bus reportedly veered off while giving way to another vehicle. Among the injured are schoolchildren. Three of the injured, who are in serious condition, have been transferred to the Kandy Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
