The Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). He is accused of granting this approval without following proper procedures, specifically violating Sections 8 and 21 of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) Act No. 41 of 1978, thereby providing an undue advantage to an applicant. The Chairman is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today.
