New Rs. 600 Million Indian-Funded Emergency Unit Begins Construction at Mannar Hospital

Construction commenced today, September 16, on a new Rs. 600 million Accident and Emergency Treatment Unit at Mannar District General Hospital. The project, which aims to expand emergency and specialized healthcare services for residents, is funded by a grant from the Government of India. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake attended the ceremony marking the start of construction for the facility, which will be equipped with modern medical amenities. The new unit is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028.
