New Office for 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service Inaugurated in Colombo

Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, specifically extended his gratitude to Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha de Silva for his contributions to the 1990 Suwa Seriya service. The relocation of the head office to a government building is projected to save the government approximately Rs. 25 million annually.

The new head office for the 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service is specifically located at No. 43, Horton Place, Colombo 07. Prior to this, the service's main office had operated from a private building in the Rajagiriya area since 2016. During the inauguration, Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, stated that the 1990 ambulance service, despite its challenging beginnings, has now achieved stability. He also extended special gratitude to the people of India and their Prime Minister for their contributions. The relocation from a private building is notable given the high rental costs incurred by the government for state institutions housed in such premises.

The new head office for the 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service was officially inaugurated on April 4, 2026, at Horton Place, Colombo 07. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, and attended by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha de Silva from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). The new office aims to enhance the service's performance, improve emergency medical response, and strengthen ambulance operations and coordination. Minister Jayatissa emphasized the government's commitment to further expanding the Suwa Seriya service using technology and modern management methods.
