New Joint Mechanism Enhances Prison Emergency Response and Inmate Welfare

A new joint mechanism has been launched to bolster emergency response capabilities and streamline inmate welfare within Sri Lanka's prisons. Spearheaded by Minister of Justice and National Integration, Harshana Nanayakkara, the initiative initially focuses on the Vavuniya and Jaffna prisons. The program aims to establish regional coordination among state institutions for swift responses to emergencies and to improve the welfare activities for inmates. This move seeks to create a more integrated approach to prison management and safety across the island.
