New reports confirm the tree that fell was a large eucalyptus tree. The victims have been identified as a school student, his mother, and another woman. The accident occurred around 6:45 am in the Mapakanda area, en route to Nawalapitiya. The tree was reportedly rotten. Police and residents worked together to remove the bodies, which were then sent to Nawalapitiya District General Hospital.
