These goods were found concealed in sacks on beaches, hidden in vegetation, or stored in houses. While suspects have evaded capture in some instances, one individual was arrested in Kalpitiya during a raid on a property suspected of housing illicit goods.

Naval forces apprehended a significant haul of contraband illegally brought into the country at Battalangunduwa, Sinnagunduwa beach area on August 23rd. During a special search operation, 13 suspicious sacks were inspected, leading to the discovery of 264 kg of dried ginger and 69 kg of cardamom pods. The operation was conducted by SLNS Vijaya of the Northwestern Naval Command.
