Navy Intensifies Operations: Blast Fishing Haul Seized, Sea Cucumber Smuggling Foiled

The Sri Lanka Navy has conducted significant enforcement operations recently, including the seizure of 820 kilograms of fish caught using explosives in Muthur. A 40-year-old suspect was apprehended during the operation on September 10, with the fish suspected to have been harvested through illegal blast fishing methods. In separate incidents, naval patrols have also intercepted illegal sea cucumber trade. On August 24 in Kilinochchi, 380 sea cucumbers were seized from a suspect lacking a permit, and on September 5 in Jaffna, 673 sea cucumbers were confiscated from three individuals suspected of illegal night diving.
