Nationwide Three-Day Dengue Control Program Launched Amid Rising Cases

A special three-day dengue control program commenced today, June 24, 2026, targeting six high-risk provinces and 112 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions across Sri Lanka. The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) stated the initiative aims to accelerate mosquito control activities in areas with rapid dengue spread. This year, the country has recorded over 47,000 dengue patients, with 13 deaths also reported. The program will run until June 26, focusing on eradication efforts in 669 Grama Niladhari divisions identified as high-risk. Public cooperation in maintaining clean surroundings is crucial to prevent further mosquito breeding.
