National Police Commission's Term Concludes, Members to Continue Until New Appointments

The term of office for the National Police Commission is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, May 15, following its final meeting held today, May 14. Current members will continue to perform their duties until a new commission is appointed. The commission, established in 2023, is chaired by retired Supreme Court Judge Lalith Ekanayake. The President appoints the commission's chairperson and four members based on recommendations from the Constitutional Council.
