An accountant and a management assistant at the Mullaitivu District Hospital were arrested yesterday (April 18) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). The arrests followed a complaint from a local businessman, alleging the officials demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000. This payment was reportedly solicited to facilitate the release of a cheque for services rendered in March, related to a tender for washing and cleaning bed linen at the hospital. The suspects are expected to be presented before the Mullaitivu Magistrate's Court.
