MP Dayasiri Jayasekara Seeks Speaker's Clarification on Allegations Against Chief Justice

Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has formally written to Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne seeking clarification on serious allegations raised in Parliament concerning Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena. The allegations, presented by several MPs, reportedly include matters related to family assets valued at approximately Rs. 185 million and a luxury Colombo house, as well as the Chief Justice's involvement in the X-Press Pearl compensation case. In his letter, Jayasekara inquired whether any formal submissions of evidence, preliminary inquiries, or actions have been initiated by Parliament or referred to independent bodies for verification. He noted that he was not pre-judging the truth of these claims.
