The Railway Station Masters' Union, Assistant Engine Drivers' Union, and Depot Workers' Union have launched the ongoing 48-hour strike. The Department of Railways confirmed that office train services continued to operate as usual on all lines today, as they did yesterday, and are scheduled to run as planned this evening. An Intercity train from Kankesanthurai to Colombo was also mentioned as operating.
