The newly constructed five-storey maternity and surgical ward complex at Monaragala District General Hospital will be vested with the public on Thursday, June 4th, under the patronage of Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa. The facility, built at a cost of over Rs. 857 million, includes maternity wards on the ground and first floors, and women's surgical wards on the second and third floors. The fourth floor is planned to house four modern operating theatres equipped with advanced medical technology. This project forms part of a larger Rs. 2.9 billion investment by the Ministry of Health aimed at significantly upgrading healthcare infrastructure.
