The Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Unit has arrested two suspects on August 2, 2024, in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old three-wheeler driver who went missing approximately one and a half years ago. The victim, identified as Sandun Udara Alwis (also known as 'Hawa'), a resident of Kiriberiya, Galpotta Road, Panadura, was reportedly murdered, and his body was discovered buried in the Horana Tibbatugoda Cemetery. Police have since deployed security at the burial site. Investigations revealed that Alwis was a key government witness in a murder case that occurred on July 11, 2021, at the Pinwala Cemetery in Panadura South. This previous crime was allegedly orchestrated by prominent drug trafficker and underworld leader 'Kudu Salindu' and his associate Nilanga (aka Maluwa).
