Missing CCTV Footage Hinders Probe into Former SriLankan CEO's Death

Investigators have informed the Kotahena Magistrate's Court that CCTV footage is unavailable from the residence of the late Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines. The Colombo Crimes Division reported that no recordings exist from the CCTV systems at Chandrasena's Colombo residence and also at the home of his relative, Aravinda de Silva, covering the period of May 5th and 7th. The court was informed during a hearing on May 19th regarding the ongoing inquiry into Chandrasena's death. Police also noted the residence had two entry points from the garage and sought permission to submit DVR machines for forensic analysis.

The Colombo Crime Division informed the Fort Magistrate on May 26th that the CID, via Interpol, has requested data from the mobile phone of the late former SriLankan Airlines CEO, Kapila Chandrasena, from Apple. This was disclosed during court proceedings concerning the post-mortem, where witnesses 17 and 18 testified, but witnesses 19 and 20, including President's Counsel Rienzi Arsakularatne and Attorney Udara Muhundiram, did not appear.
