Mirigama National Kidney Stone Centre Opens to Alleviate Surgical Waitlists

The Mirigama National Kidney Stone Treatment Centre was officially opened on July 12th by Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. This new national-level facility is established to provide services to patients nationwide and address one of Sri Lanka's most common medical conditions, Kidney Stone Disease. A primary objective is to reduce the current waiting list, which exceeds 5,000 individuals awaiting kidney stone removal surgery. The centre is expected to ease the burden on the country's urology services and improve access to treatment.
