The Department of Irrigation has issued an amber-colored flood warning for low-lying areas within the Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya river basins. This alert follows heavy rainfall experienced over the past several hours, which has caused rising water levels at hydrological gauges. Consequently, minor flood conditions are anticipated in the affected regions. The warning specifically covers Divisional Secretariat divisions including Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalla, Mahara, Gampaha, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela, Katana, and Wattala. This advisory is in effect for the next 24 hours, concluding at 8:00 PM on May 15th.

The Department of Irrigation has extended the minor flood warning for the Attanagalu Oya basin by another 48 hours. The warning, initially issued on May 22nd, now covers low-lying areas and motorists are urged to remain vigilant. Additionally, the water level of the Kuda Ganga, a tributary of the Kalu River, is reportedly rising in the Kalawellawa area.

The Irrigation Department has extended the minor flood warning for the Attanagalu Oya basin for an additional 24 hours. Heavy rainfall between 50-100 mm is anticipated in the Kelani Ganga, Kalu Ganga, and Attanagalu Oya basins. The Kelani Ganga basin recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours. Despite ongoing alerts, the department notes that river water levels are gradually decreasing and not showing significant increases.

This alert, issued due to heavy rainfall in catchment areas, is now in effect for the next 48 hours. Additionally, the minor flood alert for the Kelani Ganga basin remains in effect for the next 48 hours, with minor flood situations developing in the Kalu Ganga (Ratnapura area), Kelani Ganga (Hanwella area), and Attanagalu Oya (Dunumale area).
