A private bus travelling from Medirigiriya to Colombo veered off the Polonnaruwa–Habarana main road and overturned into a canal in the Devala Wanguwa area near Minneriya's seventh mile post early this morning. The accident, which occurred around 4:45 AM, resulted in 20 to 22 passengers sustaining injuries. Those injured were admitted to Habarana and Polonnaruwa Hospitals, with the bus driver also reportedly among the injured. Police stated that none of the victims are in serious condition, and investigations into the cause of the incident are underway.
