Ministerial Defence Committee Convenes on Northern and Eastern Land Issues

The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Defence, chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, reviewed the progress of previous deliberations on land issues. Discussions specifically addressed challenges arising in the release of lands held by security forces and the reopening of closed road sections in the Northern and Eastern provinces. The committee also considered issues raised by Members of Parliament from the Northern Province, as well as both government and opposition parties, and explored possible positive solutions and steps taken to resolve issues related to religious sites.
