Mihintale Poson Festival: Chief Incumbent Cites Lack of State Preparation, Insufficient Funds

The Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya, Ven. Walawahangunawawe Dhammarathana Thero, has stated that the government has provided no official notice or preparation for the upcoming State Poson Festival. He noted that officials from key ministries and the President's Office have not engaged with the temple regarding arrangements. The Thero also revealed that the allocated state funding of Rs. 50 lakhs is insufficient due to the prevailing economic crisis and rising fuel costs. Despite the apparent lack of central government support, the festival, scheduled for June 26 to July 2, will proceed, even if through personal sacrifice.
