Mattala Airport to Establish Wildlife Office Following New Conservation Agreement

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on April 27 at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), primarily between the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The agreement's core objective is to minimize wildlife-related incidents around airports, safeguard biodiversity, and ensure the efficient operation of MRIA. A significant outcome of this collaboration is the establishment of a dedicated wildlife office within the airport premises. This initiative, which also involved Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd (AASL) for the office establishment, was presided over by Minister Anura Karunathilaka, who highlighted its importance for enhancing airport safety and efficiency.
