Matara Couple Arrested in Beauty Salon Raid with Rs. 70 Million Worth of Drugs

A married couple was arrested today in Matara after police seized a large haul of narcotics, including heroin and 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine), valued at approximately Rs. 70 million. The raid, conducted at a beauty salon near the Matara Railway Station, uncovered 2.45 kilograms of heroin and 50 grams of 'Ice' from the male suspect, with a small quantity also found on his wife. The couple, identified as residents of Welegoda, Matara, were apprehended by the Matara Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau following an intelligence-led operation. The operation was supervised by senior police officials.
