Massive Heroin and 'Ice' Haul Seized in Wellampitiya; Suspect Arrested

In a significant anti-narcotics operation, police arrested a 38-year-old man in Sedawatta, Wellampitiya, on September 2, 2026. Officers from the Colombo Divisional Crime Division seized approximately 8.055 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine ('Ice') and 4.17 kilograms of heroin from the suspect's possession. The raid also led to the recovery of Rs. 300,000 in suspected drug proceeds. This operation is one of several recent busts targeting drug trafficking networks across the island, with other significant seizures reported in areas like Boralesgamuwa and Kiribathgoda involving substantial quantities of narcotics.
