Massive Drug Haul Intercepted in Sri Lanka; Indian Origin Suspected

Sri Lankan police have made significant seizures of illicit substances in recent days. On July 21st, officers in Madampella intercepted a lorry transporting vegetables and discovered 216,000 illegal pills concealed within. The drugs, valued at approximately 35 million rupees, were reportedly brought from India by boat and were en route from Norochcholai to Colombo. In a separate incident on July 19th, Kalpitiya police seized 67,730 drug capsules and 30 kilograms of Indian bidis from a house in Janasavipura. The value of these pills alone exceeded 15 million rupees. Both operations have led to arrests, with investigations ongoing into the smuggling and distribution networks.
