Man Seriously Injured in Bandaragama Attack Over Alleged Police Informant Role

A 29-year-old mason from Malwatta, Millaniya, was seriously injured in an attack that occurred in the Raigama area of Bandaragama. The victim was reportedly assaulted by three individuals who arrived in a three-wheeler and used sharp weapons, including swords. The attack is believed to be in retaliation for the victim allegedly providing information to the police, which led to the arrest of an individual near his residence. One of the swords reportedly became lodged in the victim's hand and bent during the assault, with the assailants fleeing the scene and leaving two swords behind. A witness reportedly recorded the three-wheeler's license plate number, aiding the ongoing police investigation. The victim is currently receiving treatment at Horana Base Hospital.
