Man Arrested for Impersonating PM's Secretary's Husband in School Admission Scam

A 40-year-old man from Borella was arrested on April 21, 2026, by the Colombo South Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau for allegedly impersonating the husband of the Prime Minister's Personal Secretary. The suspect reportedly attempted to secure Grade 1 admissions for two children at a prominent Colombo school. He is accused of meeting the school principal, offering two Urban Development Authority housing units in exchange for the admissions, and claiming to be a Wing Commander in the Air Force to gain trust. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the Prime Minister's Office. Investigations suggest the man, who also claimed to be an alumnus of the school, was attempting to fraudulently obtain money.
