Major General Manada Yahampath Appointed as Sri Lanka Army's 68th Chief of Staff

Major General Manada Yahampath's appointment as the 68th Chief of Staff on April 2, 2026, followed the retirement of former Chief of Staff Major General Kapila Dolage. Major General Yahampath, who belongs to the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment and also serves as its Colonel of the Regiment, brings 13 years of experience in Special Forces operations to his new role. Concurrently, Major General Nilantha Premaratne, previously the Commander of the Army Volunteer Force and from the Artillery Regiment, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
