Mahinda Rajapaksa Pays Final Respects to Ex-SriLankan CEO, Confirms CIABOC Appearance

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his final respects to the late Kapila Chandrasena, former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, at a private funeral parlour in Borella on May 10, 2026. Speaking to the media at the funeral, Rajapaksa described Chandrasena as a "capable official who did something for the country" and a personal friend. When questioned about a recent notice from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Rajapaksa confirmed his intention to appear before the commission, stating, “Yes, I will go. We must go.” Chandrasena's body was placed at the parlour ahead of funeral rites scheduled for later that day.
