A mother and her teenage daughter were killed, and two men were seriously injured, after the upper floor of their rented two-story house in Maharagama was set on fire by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred yesterday, April 18th, on Pamunuwa Road, Eksath Suba Sadaka Mawatha. The deceased were identified as 55-year-old H.B. Rathnakanthi Wickramarachchi and her 16-year-old daughter S. Tassarani Rathnayake. The girl's 46-year-old father and the 76-year-old house owner sustained severe burn injuries and were hospitalized. Neighbors reportedly intervened to extinguish the blaze and assist the injured, with Maharagama Police currently investigating the incident.
