Magnitude 5.9 Earthquake in Afghanistan Kills Eight, Injures One Child

A powerful earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region on Friday, leading to eight fatalities and one child injured. The casualties occurred in Kabul when a house collapsed following the tremor, according to the National Disaster Management Authority. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported the quake's depth at 177 km (110 miles). Strong tremors were felt across the region, including in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, Pakistan's capital Islamabad, and the Indian capital New Delhi.
