Litro and LAUGFS Gas Increase Domestic LP Cylinder Prices Effective Midnight

LAUGFS Gas PLC stated that it had made efforts to manage internal costs before implementing the price revision. The company also confirmed the previous prices for its domestic LP gas cylinders were Rs. 4,630 for the 12.5 kg cylinder and Rs. 1,862 for the 5 kg cylinder, prior to the current increases.

Following Litro Gas's announcement, LAUGFS Gas PLC has also increased its domestic LP cylinder prices, effective midnight on April 5, 2026. The price of a 12.5 kg LAUGFS cylinder has risen by Rs. 1,070 to a new price of Rs. 5,700. The 5 kg LAUGFS cylinder has increased by Rs. 418 to Rs. 2,280. Both companies cited rising global market prices, increased import costs, and geopolitical tensions as reasons for the price revisions. Litro Gas specifically mentioned the prevailing global conflict and efforts to minimize the burden on consumers during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season.

Litro Gas Lanka has announced an increase in the prices of all domestic LP gas cylinders, effective from midnight today. The 12.5 kg cylinder will see an increase of Rs. 775, bringing its new price to Rs. 4,765. Similarly, the 5 kg cylinder will rise by Rs. 308 to Rs. 1,910, and the 2.3 kg cylinder by Rs. 140 to Rs. 890. The company attributed these revisions to escalating global market rates, increased freight costs, and the ongoing international war situation. Despite the price adjustments, Litro Gas Lanka has assured consumers of an uninterrupted supply of gas, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming festive season.
